Remembrances: Shiva, Shloshim, Unveilings,
and other Memorials

I am honored to help you remember your loved ones, in the moments immediately after a death and throughout the years to come. I bring Jewish wisdom, as well as traditional and contemporary prayer, to your family at moments that organically support the natural grieving process. I will help you to celebrate the life of your loved one(s) and your memories of them.

I provide support for the selection of text and the writing of Hebrew names for headstones. And I am honored to help you to prepare a short ceremony to unveil the headstone - usually six to eleven months after burial.

Memorial Services

I will come to your home or the place of your choice to help you mark Shiva - the first seven days after burial - with song, prayer, and remembering.

Shloshim marks the end of the first month of mourning. While it is not customarily marked by significant ritual, some people find a small or private affair to be cathartic. I will help you to decide and design something to suit your remembrance.

A memorial service is a more complete funeral service, without burial. Such a service might be held when a loved one is buried far from home, or when family cannot travel in time for burial, or when a body is donated for medical research.

I will sit with you to learn about your loved one, as I would with a burial, to provide a hesped (Hebrew for eulogy) - or support you in creating your own eulogy. I will help you create a memorial program to bring music, writings, and prayers to help you celebrate the life of your loved one.
